MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.
Maori Dream.—& reef 3 feet thick has been cut: near the Diadem boundary, which the manager thinka skould prove payable. The cross ia in 33 feefc through very favourable sandstone. In the drive north the reef maintains its usual size and quality. In tho drive south tho reef is much smaller, nob averaging more than six inches, but is payable. Uiadkji. — Tho crosscuts are passing through a firm class of sandstone.
Premieb.—Tho contract for extending the crosscut 150tfe to get under the outcrop of quartz showing on the surface was completed bo-day. Tho drive is now in a total distance of 205fb. The extension of the drive will be continued by wagas men. The reef should be intersected next week providing it carries down. Nestor, —The lead lias maintained ibs usual aize and quality, and at every breaking down good prospects of geld can be scon in the solid stone. The country and indications are all thab can bo desired for a patch of specimens. Zkalandia.—The shaft is down llOffi. Tho men are now getting ready for the pumping ami winding machinery. New Golconda.— No. 1 drive is goiag west oh the leader cut in tho shaft). If the leader discovered in the Welcome Find (which carries such good gold) keeps iba present course, this drive should cut it. The country in the drive is of a very good description for gold, arid the leader looks very well indeed. No. 1 drive will aleo cub the leader from whick Mr Daldy got very good prospects. In fact, this is very good ground, full of quartz and mineral veins. No. 2 drive will cut the Ifaumki North eader.
Jocelyn.—A starb was made to open up this mine on the 26th ult.
Magazine.—Quartz stringers and mineral veiMS are still meb with in the drive.
Orlando.—The reef in the drive going east is two feet thick, and looks very promising. West, the reef ia 18in thick, and carries excellent indications for gold.
Kurunui.— The battery will start on Monday to crunh the trial parcel in hand.
Clcnes. — The drive is still paeeine through first class stone. The reef should be to band in about 40ft of driving.
Whau.—The reef in the low level is well defined and heavily charged with minerals. Tho reef has baen cut through in the Middle Star section* It is about five feet wide.
Welcomb Find.—-The country in the bottom level is now firmer and looks more likely than ib has done for some time past. Tbe southern drive ab bhe bottom level is in 60 feeb from bhe crosscub. The lode which has produced 181b of pickod stone, continues to look highly favourable for gold. The general stuff also shows strong blotches and colours of gold. The lode averages about four inches in width. The face of the drive is about 200 feeb from the southern boundary. There are 180 feeb of backs at this poinb W-lipuru.— Driving is proceeding to cub tho junction of No. 1 and Rimu reefs.
