DISTRICT JUDGE WARD.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
Wellinqt&n, this day. I have it on undisputiable authority thab there is no troth in the allegation that) District Judge Ward refused appointment to the Supreme Court Bench because he would have forfeited the pension which accrued to him as District Courb Judge, His right to that pension would in no way have been jeopardised by the acceptance of a Supreme Court judgeship. The only reason foKi his noB-acceptance of the po»i> tion was on account of a bereavement in hia family.
