Both the • pictures and musical portion of fchaprogramme, to judge by the unstinted applauee, meb with fcbe appreciation of the, audience, and the programme proved one of the mosb successful yeb presented. ;;Too:; greab a tendency was displayed,'however,. by the audience to encore anything Mid , everything, and it was some time afterjea , o'clock before the entertain menb concluded*: ! The limelight pictures by Mr Cooper wore well eelected, and the effectiveness of tboio depicting the hob'lake district!'and "the.1 battlefields of New Zealand was ei»h««ed by admirable effects. Mies Mary Day, who abetted, last night for the firab time at tkeaa.coiK certs, possesses a pleasant soprano voice, and her singing of " Call Me Back " earned. her a well deserved encore. She reipendei with "The Carnival" and later in the eTiu,ing she sang "Calvary"' which was illoi-s br«t ed with 'limelight views. The sbnge by MrK. 11. Buttery "Wrecked and Saved and "Tho Mighty Deep" were both inw with considerable efl'eet. Miss Birdie Butler again had a good reception and was recalled for hor singing of "Close to*the Threehold" (with 'cello obligafco) and re; sponded with "The Stepping Stonei. , Her pleasing voice was afterwards beitaM> advantage in Adams' song " Fiona, Inc. Waiata Quartobte were encored for bow their ifcom'B the eerenade " Lovely Kignt and Kucken's " Soldier's -Farewell.' w Hartoz's arrangement of " Home, Sweet Home " for the violin Miss Celia JD»n>|»« scored a greab success and was oenipelle* to respond to the hearty plaudits.. M instrumental dueb (banjo and piano) by*' and Mrs Ringwood was also re-dem»naea, while Mr Alex.
