Mr F. Andrewa, a well-known Wesb Coast sportsman, and one time hon. sec. of HieFoxton Racing Clnb, was in Auckland this week. He tells me that he intends lending up hia mare Germaine (dam ef The liber) on a visit to eithar St. Leger or Hotchkiaa. J. Rae haa purchased a brown gelding by Natator from Bessemer (dam of Kingswood), who now occupies a box at bis ■tables.
Ur H. Harrison entered into possession of the Harp of Erin Hotel this week, amidsb ths good wishes of his many friends. I hear that Major George recognised the efforts of an old and faithful servant by pwenting Harrison wibb a very substantial cheque before they parted. # This is characteristic of the sbraigbb-gbing owner of Wapiti. Kaikfl, the Hawke's Bay Steeplechase winner, baa been purchased by Mr G. f. Donnelly. From the South comes news of the death of the brood mare Ouida, dam of the disappointing Skirmisher.
Tho well-known hurdle racer Bonovoree was shipped to Kaikobe (Bay of Islands) on Monday last. Mr W. Walters is negotiating for the purchase of Cartridge irom Mr D. O'Brien. The cable informs us that the famous mnre L% Fleche (by St. Simon—Quiver), Dinner of the Oaks, One Thousand Guineas aivl St. Leger in the year 1892, haß been told far 12,600 guineas, but the name of the buyer is nob given. She claims being tho hli;iiß*fc price yearling tilly ever disposed of io England, for at thab age she brought 5j500 guineas.
