THE BARQUE JULIE ABANDONED AT SEA.
By last week's mail a report of an unusually thrilling incident at sea came to hand in connection with the abandonment of the? Julie. *The report says:—The Norwegian% efaestnar Oscar IL Las arrived at Halifax, N.S., from Cardiff,, and landed Captain Nellsen, of the Norwegian barque Julie, his young daughter, and oixteen Bailors of his crew, Tha Julie had encountered two rjavere gales, in the second ot which she wan washed by tremendous &ea», and finally sprang a leak, which gained so rapidly on tb« pumpa that the crew stood by. them day and night, the captain's young daughter Viking her turn with the rest. The water increased, and the vessel showed signs of/ breaking up. Signals of distress were Cade, and the vessel drifted about helplessly for three days. The crew huddled together famished and exhausted, when the you'bg girl, looking towards the south-east no'deed a speck on the horizon. "Ib is a tail," she cried, "fire a gun." Six ehotß were fired in succession, but the speck drew no nearer. The girl, however, insisted that the firing should be repeated, and the result was that the cound was finally heard on board the Oscar 11., which altered h«r course, came up, and rescued all on board, the barque. The rescued crew are enthusiastic in their praises of the heroic conduct of the captain's young daughter.
