The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board was held yes^erday afternoon, Mr Gr. S. Kissling (Cbait*. man) presided. There were also prewntj. Messrs Holland, Devore, Houghton, Ken*, Craig, Gunson, Farrell, Niccol and Kapife ■
Freeman's Bay IvEci__M_.Tip_r.-_b was resolved that the Finance and Legal Oosamittee of the Board meet tbe City Council to consider bhe matter ab 7.45 p.m. on Tuesday evening nexb, bhe Foreman ef Works bo be present. Storekeeper." — Mr Charles E. Browto wrote resigning hia position as e.tsiafean.storekeeper. He asked for 14 day_ leave of absenoe, from 13bh.inBt. — ? IfrftlV K»d., u fron» steamship companies and local merchants and importers drawing attention to "the wanb of appliances ab the port for landing heavyweights and dealing with them on tho wharf. A floating crane capable of lifting from 20 to 30 tons was urgently needed.—The matter was referred to the Works and Tari_ Committee, an estimate of cosb to be obtained in the meantime.. ~. Railway Road.—A letter from the R.s. dent Engineer of the Railway department re the proposed widening, of the approach road to tbe Auckland Station and exchange of land, was referred bo the Finance Committee.'
Quay-street.—The local manager of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company asked thab Quay-Btreeb be further metalled as soon as possible.—Referred to bhe Works and Tariff Committee. — Mr»Niccol said he thought the City Council ought to take over the street.
Broaching Cargo.—Correspondence was read from the master of the s.s. Waikafca and local manager of the New Zealand Shipping Company, stating that several cases of preserved meats had been broached while in Harbour Board sheds.—lt was resolved to ask Captain Duder for a report on the matter. Victoria Wharf.—ln accordance, with notice of motion, Mr Napier moved: " That the Foreman of Works be instructed to ereco a suitable gabeway and fence on tha shore end of Victoria Wharf, Devtih. port, to prevent overcrowding on the wharf, and bhab the gate ah the lower end of the wharf be removed."—The motion was carried.
