IMPORTS AND EXPORTS.

Wellington, thia day. The imports into New Zealand during the March quarter were £1,712,528 againat £1,755,672 in 1895. The exports were £4,327,032 againsb £3,564,840. The principal increases were in wool, frozen meat, when, oats, butter, and gold, which amount to £2,829,294 as againsb £2,190,902 for the corresponding quarter last year.
Tha gold entered for export in March quarter was as follows : — Auckland, £93,P31; Marlborough, £1,910; Nelson, £4,991 ; Wasb Coast, £102.678; Otago, £98,192: Total, £301,503, For the same quarter last year the amounb was £267,585. Up bo March 31ab the total proceeds of the New Zealand goldfie!dß waß £51,652,504.
