Wellington, this day. The population of Wellington, exclusive of those on shipboard, ia 37,432, as compared with 31,021 in 1891. The number aboard ships was 525, against 669.
The following census returns are given j —Borough of Queenstown, 781; increase, 2. Petono, 2,682; increase, 504. Carterton, 1,291; .increase, 179. Hawera, 1,770; increase, 486. Danevirke, 1,415; increase, 577. Picton, 888; increase, 100. Arrow town, 409; decrease, 17. Grey town, 1,127; decrease, 14. County of Rotorua, 845; increase, 427.
The population of Tauranga county is 1,646 againsb 1,393 in 1891.
