The opening session of the Bereafordstreet Congregational Literary and Debating Society waa celebrated last evening by a moat enjoyable concert, at which the President), the Rev. George Burgess, presided. A piano duefc was contributed by Messrs J. P. Hoofcon and J. Warner, piano solo by Mrs McDougle, and violin solo by Mr McDougle senior. An excellent solo on the clarionette was nlso played by Mr Sturtovanb. Mr Guttridge contributed a reading, " Jamioson's Ride," and the Chairman delivered an admirable inaugural address. The vocal contributions wore, "Afton Water," by Mr McDougle; "The Flighb of Ages," Miss Davies ; "Wishes and.Fishes," Miss Edmonds (encored); "I Heard a Voice," Mr C. Peace; "The Ould Counthree," Misa Harrison. A recitation waa also given by Mr Mooro so realistically, that the emotions of come present were affected.
