THE MATATUA FROM LONDON.
The Shaw, Savill, and Albion eteamer Mafcabuß, which arrived in port yesterday afternoon from London,was to-day putting oub powder, and in the afternoon will berth at Queen-street Wharf to discharge the 2,800 tons of cargo ehe haß for bhia porb. Captain MaDougall is still in command of the steamer, and with him are the following officers: —Chief, Mr W. B. Holmes; second, Mr A. H. Kirby ; third, Mr G. A. F. Dickson; chief engineer, Mr A. MeIntyre; second, Mr A. iioberts (late Arawa); third, Mr Stratihern ; fourth, Mr S. McDougall; refrigerating engineers, Messrs A. Hubcbinson and J. Crawford ; chiet steward, M r Parkin. Of the voyage the second officer reports that the Matatua left London on February 14th, and having taken in powder and dynamite at Thames Haven, sailed at 4 p.m. on the 15th, and experienced fine weather down bhe Channel and bill off Ushant, where strong winds and heavy seas were fallen in with, after which fine weather prevailed bo Tenerifie, where the Bteamer coaled on the 22nd. The equator was crossed on the 28th, and from this out heavy weather was experienced for the most part to the Cape, thence heavy westerlies across the Southern Ocean. On the afternoon of bhe Bth bhe Mabatua called ab Ilobart, and having coaled sailed for Auckland ab six nexb morning. Heavy westerly weather was experienced on the run across to the New Zealand coast, thence thick weather dawn the coast to arrival.
