Sydney papers to hand contain particulars of tiio iirsfc of the yearling sales in Sydney during the A.J.C. autumn race week. Altogether S2 yearlings were disposed of for a total of 6,925jr9, of which 19 from 'focal contributed 1,985g5; 10 from Kirkbam 1,925gs ; 27 from Hobarbvillo, 1,540 as ; 7 from Clydesdale, 590ga; 5 from Windsor Farm, 195 ps; 5 trom Lyndhurst (Q.). 195^8; 2 from TilJimby, 105ga; and 2 from Leeholme, 390gs. Of the Tocal collection 11 colta averaged 95 iO-llgs., and 8 fillies 116£gs. There were only three colts from Kirkham, and they averaged 303 l-3g9, 9 geldings 96 2-3ge, and three fillies 48 i-3gs. Ton Hobartville catalogue waß made up of 13tjeldinss and W fillies, the average for the former being 71 2-13es, and for the latter US IZ-Ugs. Mr P. Reynolds (Clydesdaio) only sonb seven, which brought all wund 84-2-7gs, and Mr Gosper's and Mr MeDougall'e (five each) an average of 39gs. Laat year's highest price was nob reached — IOOOgs fer Coil—but Mr W. Bailey (Vie), who was again represented by Mr Tom l'ayten, bougl.it the highest price yearling1, giving s&ggs for Metford, a colt by Carbine irom Marchosa, by St. Albans (imp.) He •> a handsome, well-grown, chestnut, with » near hind white stocking. There was B°me sharp bidding for him among Messrs T. Paytsn, J. R. Anderson, fd 0. Mclvor. Messrs Uphill and Portland opposed one another pretty determinedly in compatibion for' the Splendor—Second Thought colt, which became the lafeter'a property ab 210gs. Bub one bid wao made for bhe full sister to Candour and Candid, no oue caring to raise Mr Uphill's offer of lOOgs. The same buyer gave lOOgs for the filly by Goldsbrough from the dam of T6m Brown, Inspiration and other good winners : and Mr Lamond, who opened wibh lOOgs, gob for another century the filly by Splendor from Minueb, by Goldsbrough from Melody, who is bhua half-sister in blood to Wallace. Mr Thos. Morrin gave 30ga for a bay filly by Sweet WilliamDiana, by Goldsbrough. The Hobarbville collection, a good even lot, unfortunately came after a grood manybuyers had been satisfied. The biggest price—2sogs—was reached when the gelding by Far Nieate (imp.) out of the dam of Creme dOr, wenb to Mr M. Thompson. Alabaculin's half-brother, by Far Niente, brought 130ga, and the same price was given for a grand-looking filly by Splendor from Esperance (dam of Panoply). Mr G, Lee only Bent two, and a.fter some sharp cross-firing between Mr L. . M'Donald, representing Mr W. R. Wilson, and Mr Cassidy (Q.), the former purchased Efcra Weenie's brother, a very handsome colb, for 360gs. Mr P. Reynolds', lob aold well, his filly by Carbine from Twinkle fetching 350ge, arjd Dr. Anderson got him. Mr J. Gosper's email but select team were rather late in the afternoon, which enabled Mr J. Monaghan to get a strong gelding by Cambria from Lady Lovel, who covers an immense lob of ground and looks all ever a galloper, for 45g8.
