[advertisement. ] Aft APOLOGY. The Thames "Star" of 13fch inst. has the following :—" An unfortunate error, and one for which we desire to express our sincere regret to the gentleman concerned, crept into our telegraphic news as published in our issue of the 21sfc March. The paragraph was as follows : —' The Supreme Court Civil Sittings commence on Monday. A divorce case, in which George Boswell Howard is the petitioner, Annie Howard the respondent, and W. S. Whitley the corespondent, will be heard, being a motion for a decree nisi' for dissolution of marriage, on the grounds of the respondent's alleged, adultery %vith the co-respondent. Tha lady is well known on the Thames. Some sensational disclosures are promised,, there being, ao current soaeip says, a churchwarden of one of our churches mixed up in the case.' As a matter of fact, Mr W. S. Whinley was nob in any way connected with the case, either directly of indirectly, and we exceedingly regret thai) we should have inadvertently caused him any pain or annoyance in regard to the mutter. The co-respondent), as our readers will have learned from the subsequent! report).of the Supreme Court proceedings in our columns, was William Eugene Whitely, a canvasser for the Government Life Insurance Department, no other gentleman being in the slightest way concerned in the case. Mr W. S. Whitley is a wellknown and highly respected resident of Auckland, and has been for many years a churchwarden in St. Paul's Church, so that the error is all the more regrettable. We beg to tender Mr W. S. Whitley our BincWJ apology." ..,
