SAMOA NEWS.
News is to hand from Samoa to-day by the R.M.s. Mariposa up to the 21st inst. The " Samoa Times " of Saturday, February 15, eaya :—" There was a sharp shock o£ earthquake at 9 p.m. on Tuesday last. It was of short duration bud forcible.. Scarcely a day passes bub the activity in the vicinity of Fagaloa gives some slighfe intimation of its continued existence.'* A letter from Tutuila to the Samoa ■' Herald " cays that recently the Tntuili* white residents •? thought war was going to be the order of the day, and Pagopago to be the scene of operations. A Fagaea boat came into harbour and insulted the village of Fagatone. On landing the young men attacked the crew, and drove them into their boat, which went back to Fagasa, and spoke of the nay they had been treated. Forts were soon erected, and tha two parties faced each other fully armed. Tne scare ended in a good feed of pork, as all others would do if properly managed in Samoa."
