Jsy-l4\v Cases.—Upon the information of the police, James Thomas Trueman was charged with having, on the night of the 22nd. January, neglected to have a ??gl>b attached to his cart. Defendant was fined 10s, with 15a costs.—Robert H: Keenan was charged with having, on tho 26bh January, driven a vehicle round a corner at other than a walking pace. Defendant was fined 10s, with 15a cosbs.—John Twohey was charged with having, on the 29th of January, allowed a hackney carriage to stand ab other than the stand appointed. Defendant was fined 10s, with 78 costs.— In the last bwo caaea Mr T. C. Turner. Traffic Inspector, prosecuted. Master and Apprentice. -— Mr C.J. Parr appeared in support of an information charging Henry John Elliotb, an apprentice to George Alexander Coles, boob manufacturer, with having absented himself from the service of his master without leave. Mr Parr asked for an order under the Masters and Apprentices Act, 1865, that the defendanb should return to work forthwith and make satisfaction to hia employer for the fortnighb he had abeented himself, at the rate of 2s per day, the loss which Mr Coles had sustained. The order was granted as applied for.— In the case of another similar information againet Wm. Stevens, an apprentice to Mr Coles, it was stated bbab the police had had somo difficulty in serving the summons. On tho application of Mr Parr, the Courb accordingly decided bo issue a warrant.
