PAEROA WARDEN'S COURT.
At the Warden's Court yesterday, Mr H. Eyre Kenny dealb with an application by Mr W. H. Churton for the Golden Giant claim at Karanguhako. The application was objected to by Mr J. Phillip?, junr., on\ various grounds, the principal ono being that the land pegged and applied for wat» not the snme as that surveyed and comprised in the plans. Mr Phillips was also an applicant for the Ascot Bpecial claim which appeared on the plan as part of the Golden Giant ground. Messrs A. Whittaker and F. Murllor appeared for the applicant, and Messrs Miller and Kenrick for tha objector. After hearing evidence and argument, Mr Kenny suggested a compromise, which was agreed to on the basis of about an equal division of the Golden Giant 100 acres, both parties paying their own costs. The Golden Giant and Ascot claims were then granted subject to amendment of the plans.
The other caee was thab of J. W. Shaw's application for the Wellington Licensed Holding ab Owharoa, which was objected bo by Edward Bain. Mr Kenrick appeared for the applicant, and Mr Miller for the objector. The application showed some 20 acres outside the old Victoria, and the objector prayed thab Shaw be confined to the area of the Victoria holding. The applicant contended he was entitled to the ground inside hia pegs, but the Warden stated thab a man was bound by his description, and he refused the application with costs, on the ground of a breach of the provisions of the Act in nob making a proper paymenb and for a careless misstatement of factß in giving the locality. The Court finally adjourned ab 10.30 D,m.
