CONCERT AT LAKE TAKAPUNA.
The concert and tableaux given in the Lake Takapuna Hall last evening proved quite an event) in the district, and a large umber of visitors were attracted from town by the promise of good things proAd, ao that tbe building was crowded to iTErflowing. Theenfcertainment was devised togment the funds of St. Peter's Church, iud the result was a substantial one ."Jinincially, aa well as a pronounced artistic jncceii. A feature of the entertainment fas a series of tableaux, admirably derived by Mias Devore and Miss Brett, and esqniaitely pourtrayed. Each tableau was teethed with enthusiastic applause by the audience, and generally tho curtain had to ifo raised a second time to satisfy the eagerness of (be spectators. The first tableau entitled ." Moon Fairy " was pourtrayed by Mi*s Bertha Devore, and ohher : tableaux as follows :—" Sanctuary," Mrs ADseDDe, Misses Aicken, Gordon, Williamson, Boyd, Ivy Alison ; •• Wooing," feAmy Brett and Mr Bertie Wilson; "Norsicaand her Maidens," Mrs Anaenne, Jlissoi Gordon, Boyd, and B. Devore ; --'Summer," Mrs Ansenne, Misses Boyd 12), 3raithwaite, B. Devore ; " Good -Morning, Ivlamma," Miss Emily Brett and ilisa G. Ansanne ; "Queen Katherine's Dream " (Mrs Ansenne as Queen Katharine), and the Missei Gordon, Braithwaite, T. Porter and M. Boyd as the angels ; " Be'^ ftrdon, Sir," Miss Williamson, Mr B. Williamson, Mißs E. Brett. Unfortunately, 16would take too much space to describe uchof the tableaux, and it must suffice to My that each and all were roally ver}' waniifnl, and reflected the greatest) credit on all concerned. The concert items, too, Were much above the average, and were tboronghly appreciated by the audience, vneoi the best items of the evening was w instrnmentnl trio, a "Reverie," foljowed.bya "Gavotte," charmingly played ty tbe Mipßes Rice, three young ladies, ,»ho manipulated the piano, violin and cello in mosc masterly style, and provided »real musical treat. Later on, the same 'Mies played a second instrumental selec™Dr which was also highly appreciated. ' Mrs Cooper, who was in excellent voice, ■««>e moat effectively " Whisper and 1 wall Hear,;' and •' Tha College BeUs," Wa wai enthusiastically applauded, giving in response to an encore a third item of a Humorous character. Mr Archdale Taylor Me Love Thee" in fine style, ?"a in response to a recall gava an able Werpretation of "The Village Black'tt'th. Mrs Archdale Taylor Ban? " GcodBys very nicely, and Mr and Mrs Tayler Kara a vary much appreciated rendering of wadnel "Yeßanis and Braes." Master "srald Ralph played a series of " Trova- »» selections on the violin, dssplay">e phenomenal execution and musical went for one so young, and later on played another_ vialia solo. A most pleasing tare in the programme was a cachuca, «y mcely danced by the Misses Hanna WJ. Devore (2) and Squirrell.
