CABINET-CHANGES.
THE VACANT PORTFOLIOS, fe
THE ATTORN&Y-GENEKALSHIP.
THE HON. J. A. TOLE MENTIONED.
The fact thab shortly there will be three Ministers in Dunedin, has inspired the " Post" to prophecy a Cabinet meeting in theSoutherncity. Ibwill, of course, bapureiy informal; but ib will, all bhe same, come to some conclusion. It delicately suggests in dealing with the question of the additions to tho Ministry that the Cabinet may have the benefit of the presence of Mr Downie S'jowart, a probable Attorney-General. Tho " Post's" paragraph concludes in connection <pibh the Cabineb reconstruction and Attorney-Generalship, thab there is a reporb in unusually well - informed circles thab a distinguished leader of the Auckland bar has been approached with a view to bis assuming this office. Ib is contended by those who accept this reporb thab such an appointment would placate Auckland, and ab the same time leave tho portfolio held by the Hon. W. P. Reeves still vacant for disposal to a representative of the Wesb Goast or of Canterbury, or Dunedin, all of which districts ib is understood vigorously contend for Cabinet representation ab the proeenb time. This reference is, I understand, to Mr J. A. Tole of your city, bub he is, it is said, unwilling to sacrifice his business prospects for Ministerial office,
