MOTHERLESS TWINS.
TWO BABIES FOUND ON A
DOORSTEP,
An unusual case of child desertion is now being inquired into by Ctaiaf Detective Grace and Constable Hutchinson, the latter .of the Parnell Police Station. About 8 o'clock this morning a resident of Ayr-street. Parnell, named Mrs Harrington, reported to Constable Hutchinson that on opening her front door this morning she had found two male babies evidently twins, on the verandah, each wrapped up in a piece of blanket?. The constable accompanied Mrs Harrington to the house, and found the babies as stated; They were both alive, but one was in a very weak state owing to the blanket having been somewhat carelessly wrapped round him, which had left a part of his body exposed to the air. The babies are each about 34 hour 9 old The constable gob a woman to take charge of 6hem, and had them ab onco taken to Dr. Marsack, who attended tho delicate one, "and succeeded in bringing it) round by putting it in a hot bath, and rubbing it over with whisky. The doctor said the child had been found jusbin time to save his life. After the doctor had attended to tho children, they were given over to two women residing in Hobson Park, to take care of, pending the conclusion of the investigations being made by tbo police. During the morning Constable Hutchinson and Detective Grace were malting inquiries but so far they have not been successful in finding the mother of the children,
