THIRTY LIVES LOST.

Thursday Island, January 31. The mail steamer brings news thafa the Japanese cruiser Kopei (formerly the Chinese cruiser Kowong Ping) was wrecked near tho Pescadores Island during December. Thirty of the crew were drowned.
