OUR ANNUAL REGATTA.
There was a large attendance of the Committee of tho Auckland Regatta at the Waitemata Hotel last evening, wherß entries were received between 8 and 10 o'clock, Tho chairman of tho Oommitfc&o (Mr A. H. Nathan) presided. Outside the Committee thore were present a larga number of those interested in aquatics, and considerable interest was taken in the prCceedinge. Tho number of entries received waß 7L out of which 44 were in the sailing and 'il in the rowing events. It is expected additional entries will be received in the scow and trading races, and in the various classes for Selling boats. Tbe entries in tho three principal yacht races were the same as those given as probable starters in lasb night's issue, with the addition of the Huia in the 2i-raUng class. The entries on the whole may bo considered satisfactory. Interest has been added to the naval cutter race by the entry of crews from tho warships Katoomba and Goldfinch, and two crews from the Katoomba have also entered for the ship's gig race. The following aro the entries :—
Scow Race : Irene, Shamrock, Rimu, Yachts, 7 rating and over: Volunteer, Viking, Halcyon, Aorere.
Trading vessels (sealed handicap): Ear vest Home, Ettie White, Tay.
Yachts, 5 rating and under: Thetis, Rangatira, Lady Wilma, Moana, Ida.
Fishing' boats, over four tons : Bclphir,, Venice.
Cruisers (handicap) : Cynisca, Undine, Rogue, Lotfcio.
Yachts, 2i-raling and under: Mahaki, Rarore* Mabel, Huia, Ziniba, Daisy. Yachts, 2 rating and under : Mahoe, Kahawai, Wnitangi.
Half-decked boate, 22 feet and under : Cynthia, Tui, Welcome Jack, Sea Breeze, Rowi, Ida, Mana, Kofcare, Anita.
Open boats, 16 to 20 feeb: Vera, Violeb, Colloen, Kiwi, Minnie.
Junior Jigs, under lOst: West End, Sb, George's (2).
Maiden Gif;s, under 105.6 : West End (2), North Shore.
Junior Gigs, open: Sb. George's, North Shore.
Dingy Race, for boys 18 and under : R. F. Hanna, J. W. Parker, P. Bailey. Maiden Gigs, open : West End, North Shore, WaifcemataCifcy. Naval Volunteers and Man-o'-war Bouts: Katoomba, Goldfinch, Devonport Navals. Ships' Gigs : Katoomba (2). Senior Gig 9.» Auckland, WaibamafcaCity, Sb. George's.
Marshall Sculls: J. Sullivan (North Shore), A, Dacro (Auckland), G. H. Reston (West End), R.Logan (North Shore), J. M. Brigham, jun. (Sb. George's). The Union Company's steamer Flora will act aa flagship, and the final arrangements for the regatta are to be made at a Committee meeting on Monday night. At last night's meeting ib waa decided thab the time allowance in the half-docked boats should be 1_ minutes per foot. The Committee, by hard work, have got the arrangements in a forward state, and providing The 29th is graced by tine weather there ia every proepecb of bhis year's regatta proving as successful as any for some years past; This morning the yachts Viking, Volunteer, Thetis, Ida and Moana, wero floated into the Graving Dock to prepare them for the regatba. After cleaning they will be floated oub again to-morrow. Tho rig of the two former has already been changed from the yawl, adopted for comfort when cruising, to bho cutter rig, and both have already their racing canvas on. Tho following aro tho handicaps for tho sculling race (stump outriggers) Judges' Bay Regatta, to be held on nexb Saturday : —Bailey, scratch ; Colo, '4aecs ; Payne, 4secs; Brigham, 4seca ; McHardy, Ssecs ■ Dacre, 13secs ;(Thomson. 20secs.
