AUCKLAND WOOL SALES.
The second wool salo of the season was held co day in the wool exchange in Messrs Hoeketh and Aitken's premises, Queenstreet. Close on 3,000 bales were catalogued by the Loan and Mercantile Company, Messrs Buckland and Sons, Hunter and Nolan, G. W. Binney and Son, the four firms soiling. There was a large attendence of buyers, among those bidding being Messrs Murgatroyd, Frice, Colbeck, Heeketh, Campbell, Slator, Parker, Hellaby, Donald, Warnock and Sutherland. In spite of the good attendance, except for certain lines which wore wanted), the bidding was dull, and an easier tone was manifest than prevailed at the December Bale, this being especially noticeable in heavy long wools, which were distinctly Jd per 1b lower than ab the first sale of the season. The general quality of the wool offered was good.
The Loan and Mercantile Agency were the first to Hell, the manager, Mr S. Clarke Johnson, officiating as auctioneer. Their catalogue comprised 533 bales, a fair proportion of which was sold, and what was passed will probably be sold privately. The sale for the most part was dull, and prices were perhaps a shade under those realised afc the December sale. The moßt important clipoffered by the Loon Coinp&ny was that of Mr J. Taylor, of Cambridge, comprising 87 bales crossbred wool, the leading lots of which realised S£d, a price which during this sale was got tor several other lots of crossbred wool. Prices ranged about as follows: —Crossbred, 62d to B£d ; long wool, 6Jd to Sd ; Jambß, ti{d t,o ?|d : pieces, 4|d to 6d. Mr Buckland, on behalf of his firm, was the next te Bell. Their catalogue consisted of 824 bales, most of which sold ab about the same values as ab December's sale, with the exception of heavy longwools, which were easier. Some bales of crossbred wool brought S£d, and one bale of lambs' wool sold ab S^d. The range of prices was aboub aa follows : Crossbred, 6|d to S^d ; longwool, b'}d to M ; lambe, 6Ad to 7^d ; pieces, 4d to 6d. "Messrs Hunter and Nolan's was the third sale, and Mr J. P. A. Philson acted as auctioneer. The catalogue comprised 604 bales, all of which, with the exception of 9 lote, were Bold under the hammer. The sale was like those which preceded, rather dull, mosb wooils being easier, selling in many cases £ below Decembor value. The range of prices was a follows :—Crossbred, 6hd to B^d ; longwool, s£d to 8d ; lambs, 6£d to 7J;d ; pieces, 3d to 5d ; and locka, lid to 3£d. Messrs G. VV. Binney and Sons' sale, the last on the list, was proceeding when we went to press.
