Praise for Perfidious Albion.

The heroism of our English troops in tho Crimea raised a great admiration in their French comrades. This feoling spread to France itself, and for a time thero was quite im enthusiasm of praise for England. An English residonb in Paris says that he was in a cigar Bhop, when a French cabby camo in to buy tobacco. 'Is it true,' afked this mnn of another, ' that 8,000 English kept tho fiold against 45,000 Russians, until Boi'quob camo up, and that in company with our soldiers they charged tho enomy, and killed 9,000?' 'It is true,' was tho answer. 'Then,' continued the cabman, 'although I have always hated the English, and thoughb them false and perfidious, if an Englishman weito now to fall into the Seine I would jump after and try to save him, though I can'b swim a stroke. They are heroes ! Why, the Old Guard could never have done more ; and to tfeink they are Englishmen, whom I have beon hating all-my life! Bub it is never too late to learn.' This generous spirit of admiration became almost universal "in France, and wiped out much of bhe too prevalent ill-will.
