H.jVJ.b. Goldfinch left Akaroa yesterday morning tor Auckland. She is expected to arrive here about Thursday morning.
The barque Northern Chief has given notice of sailing at the Customs for Sydney, via Kaipara, about the end of the week.
The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Ruahino is due at Wellington from London, via the usual ports of call, late on Tuesday niehb.
On Friday laab Captain McGee,' of the Tasmania, reports passing the barquentine Adelaide, bound from Newcastle to this porb with coals.
Aboub 4 o'clock yo3terday morning H.M.a. Katoomba arrived in porb from Napier after a fino weather passage. The warship goes into dock here for painting and overhaul.
The s.s. Taieri, from Newcastle wibh coals for the Gas Company, arrived ab 10.45 on Saturday nighb after a fine weather passage, and berbhed ab bhe Hobson-sbreeb Wharf to discharge.
The Brunner, which leffe Wellington for Lybtelton on Saturday night, states a telegram, mob with a slighb accident to her machinery when near the Heads, and sifjualled for assistance. The Mawhera was senb oub and brought the disabled steamer into harbour. P»epairs were speedily affected, and the Brunner lefb at half-paab one yesberday afternoon.
The Huddarb - Parker steamer Anglian arrived from southern ports ab 1.30 this afternoon. The purser, Mr Cerubty, reports that the sbeamer lefb Lytbeltnn on bha 26bh, Wellington on the 27bh, Napier on the 28bn, Gisborne ab 11 a.m; on the 29bh, and arrived as above. Experienced fine clear weather moderate bo lighb variable wynds and smoobh sea throughout
At 3.55 a.m. yesterday morning the s.s. Tasmaniu arrived from Sydney. While in tha Australian porb the steamer was overhauled and painted, and is now in tirsbclass order. Of tho trip across the purser reports that tha Tasmania cleared Porb Juckeon Heads ab 8 p.m. on Tuesday last, roundod tho North Cape on Sacurday afternoon, and having experienced moderate to fresh oaßfcerly winds and fine woacher throughout arrived as above. The Eteamor leaves this evening for Southern ports.
The new Mission vessel Day Spring arrived ab Melbourne on December 22nd from Liverpool, on her voyage to the New Hebrides. She has been builb for the Presbyterian Mission there, and is intended to sail between Australia and those islands. Her master, Captain Reynold, a cousin of the late Mr iipurgeon, reports thab the steamer is a remarkably good eea-going vessel, aud bhac in Bpite of bad weather almost all bho way oub she accomplished tho voyage in 86£ days. With 27 years' experience he never sailed a better vessel, and he declares bhab he would go anywhere with her at sea.
