ST PATRICK'S FANCY FAIR
In accordance with established custom, the annual Christmas tree and sale of work was opened yesterday in the Catholic Institute, in aid of the St. Patrick's Presbytery Building Fund. There was a large attendance in the afternoon, when the Roy. Father Madden opened the bazaar. He expressed regrefc at the absence of the Hon. Sir Patrick Buckley who had promised to be present, at the opening. The hall was tastefully decorated, and the beautiful articles on the various stalls contributd largely to the gaiety of the scene. The children had an especially good time both in the aftornoon and evening, aB the tickets for admission entitled them to a prize from a heavily-laden Christmas tree located near the platform. One particularly attractive stall was thab on which were displayed the prizes for the art union in aid of the morblo altar fund. Amongst the articles are two capital paintings by Messrs Fond and Dignan. On otherstallsare arranged all sorts of beautiful fancy work articles, which reflacb great credit, on the ladies to whose industry their presence is attributable. Amongst the prominent assistants in promoting and working the bazaar are: Mesdames Lennardo(troasurer), Ouscott, Skeates, and Misses Hawkins, Ryan, McDermott, Grace, and Twohey. Tlio stall containing the art union goods is in charge of Mesdames Dignar. and O'Brien, and MUaes Hobbs, Nolan, O'Brien and Gough (members of the Guard of Honour). An attractive item during the evening was a maypole dance by pupils of St. Patrick's School. Songs were also given by Misses Donovan and Quinn, Messrs (Snedden and Martin. The exhibition will be again open to-night, and continues until, Thursday evening, when the various art unions will bo drawn.
