The musical, elocubionary and literary contests in connection wibh bhe Auckland Band of Hopo Union were resumed last nighb. Mr Geo. Winstone presided. The judges wero .-—Music: Messrs J. P. Hooten, G. Paque, A. Perkins. Elocution : Meßßra R. WcVeagb, J. L. Scobs, J. H. Upton. The awardß in Tuesday's contests were made as follow :—Piano solos, male end female, 12 to 16, three entered: Ist prize, Isabel E. Hodgson, Kingsland Wesleyan Band of Hope. Piano duets, over 16, four entered: Ist prize, Edith and Beatrice Peako, Pitt - sbreeb Wesleyan. Violin and piano duets : 2nd prize, Isabella and Emily Spedding, Tabernacle. Violin, 'cello, and piauo brio: Isb prize, Elsie, Nellie, and Madge McMaster, Pibt-sbreet Wesleyan. Reciting, males over 16, three enbered: Ist prize, Edward Kitching, Christian Standard. Females over 16, four entered: Ist prize, Louisa Bridgens, Church of Chrisb. Thia evening the programme will consisb of recitations, vocal eoloa and quarbebbes, a spelling bee, and impromptu esaays.
