AUCKLAND RACING CLUBS FIRST SPRING MEETING.
The racing season of 1595 96, will be fairly set going next Saturday, when the Auck-
land Racing Club hold the firsb day's racing of their Spring Meeting at Ellerelie. Last nighb acceptances fell due for the various events, aad horge-ownera hare shown by tha manner in which they have paid up, thab they are quite satisfied with Mr Evett's handicaps. I am, therefore, aob going to find fault with the adjusfiaienta. Hor?e3 frequently improve or deteriorate from one season to another, and the arguments that I have beard againsb the treatment of some horsea compared with others in the handicaps tnay, therefore, be left for next Saturday's racing to decide whsther the critic or the handicappar is ab fault-. Cleopatra is the only defection from the Spring Handicap, so it is just probable we will see five New Zealand Gup candidate sport silk in the event, viz., Impulse, Pegasus, Waiuku, Deadshob and St. Kegel.
