The quarterly meeting of the Licensing Committee was held ab noon to-day. Presenb : Captain Jackson (Chairman), Messrs Chepmell, O'Neill, Forresb, Bond, Harrison and Coafces. An application for transfer of the Masonic Hotel, Cambridge, from Jamea W. Smith to Andrew Wra, Creamer, was granbed. An application was made by Jameß Shirley for removal of tho license of the Lichfield Hotel to Putaruru Junction. The constable objected bo bhe removal on bhe ground thab tho stabling 1 was deficient. The applicant, in evidence, stated that the stables had been acquired sinca tbe constable reported thereon. On behalf of Mr L. D. Nathan Mr Moses undertook to build a house in accordance with plans produced and ohe application waa granted, tho house to be known as the Putaruru Hotel.

Mr W. J. Hunber's special horse sale yesterday was a success. A large number of horses were put through. Hacks fetched up to £25 and draughts to £19 10s ; spring carts and waggon horses to £17. The sale i 3 proceeding this day, raoab of tho lots ottered finding purchasers.

The Licensing Committee meb again at 12.50 p.m. and unanimously resolved bo ask bhe Government to take the administration of the Alcoholic Liquorß Sale Control Act from the Waikato County Council, and apt—inb some obher local body, as bhe Council-refused to pay the licensing clerk, as recommended by the Committee, and as travelling expenses and interpreters' fees have not been paid for the lasb nine months.
