On Saturday evening, a meeting of ths Auckland Trades and Labour Council was held in the Foresters' Hall, Newton. Tiw> delegates' report on the proposed labour paper was thab the Council did nob sac its way ab presents to entertain the idea. A deputation was received from the Cooperative Boot Factory, Alberb-Btreet, introduced by Mr Hadfield. Mr Dears!©?, the manager, gave an account of the progress of the factory since it started aStmt four years ago, and, in response to a request of his, it waa resolved to forward the report and balance-sheet to Mr Trearear for insertion in the Labour Journal, and also to call his attention specially to bhe bcmus of 2£ per cent, paid te the employees. The Secretary was instructed to write tp the Minister of Labour re a new clause ia the Factories Act.
