The u^ual fornighbly mooting of the above Council was hold last nighb. Present: His Worship fcho Mayor (D. A. Sutherland), Messrs Burden, Nixon, McKonzie, Hit!, Shaldrick, Jackeon, Hufcchiaon, and Wade.
Cold Watkb,—Tho Council in coinmitteo rocomraondod, re tho dispute between bhe captain of the Fire Brigade and the Borough turncock aboufa having a web practice, and thus on one occasion having cleaned the Salvation Barracks by playing the hose upon it, "Thab tho /{fire Brigade should nob be interfered with when holding wet practices,"—Tho recominondabioa was adopted. Strketh. —Mr Gatland wrote requesting th&b Wary-Hbroob bo taken over by tho Council.—Tho Streets Committee recommended bbab bhe ebreeb noc being a chain wido Mr Gatland'a roquoab bo nob granted. —This was adopted. Bad Debts.—Tho Mayor moved, "Thab certain debts due by tenapto be wribto 1 oil', moßfc of bbc defaulters being absenboea. ' —After considerable diecuseioa the motion wftH carried.
Water Supply. —Mr Shaldrick, supported by Messrs JSlixon and Wade, again brought forward' his motion to rescind a previous resolution of the Council, •* That when bhe bondholders require bhe appointment of commissioners of bhe Waterworks Sinking Fund, the Council will consider eucli an appointment."—MrJackaon moved, " That the Council proceed with the next bueineßß." For Mr Jackson's amendment: Ayes, The Mayor, Messrs Burden, Jackson, McKenzie, Hill and Hutchison; noes, Messrs Wade, Nixon and Sbaldrick. Debt.—Mr Burden gave nobice to move ab the nexb meeting, " Thab steps be baken to recover debts due od a certain reserve."
