A young man.named Herberb Palmer, 27 years of age, a clerk in the circulation branch of the General Post 0-fioe,7. We^llington, was oub pigeori shooting,wibh his \brobhor and ; two boys. Herberb fired and\broughb down a pigeon, And rested his gun againsb his bhigh, while he pub'-bhe pigeori in ,a, bag. When doing. bhis, lhe. heard \a flutter in a tree above, and he snatched the gun to have a shot. As; he caughbhold of the gun,,it wenb off, and he receiveavthe charge in the left thigh, the" shot blowing a hole clean through the poor ; fellow, lie bled to death in a few ri-inutes,' being fully conscious almosb up to the last. The body was broughb into the Hutt. Mr Palmer hao only recently returned from 7 Sari Franciico, where he had".been;,for -a trip as mail agenfc 7 7 . 777 Palmer was\ very well known in abhlebic circles.
