The " Times ".recognises the reality of Russian success in opposition to the original terms of peace between China and Japan. It considers it was a good stroke of business to prevent that aggressive Power seizing Chinese territory. The result is a complete triumph for the Czar's displomacy.
Shanghai, May 7.
The Great Powers insist that China shall adequately compensate Japan for surrendering the Liaotung Peninsula.
