THE HAURAKI G.M. CO.'S MINE.
The " Thames Star's " Coromandel correspondent writes :—" The phenomenal success which bas attended operations in the Hauraki mine still continues, or rather improves, as work progresses. During the pasb week very rich golden ore has been coming to hand at each breaking down at the lOOfb level, and there is every prospecb of ib continuing for a long time to come. There is gold above, below, and all around, and the spectacle is something really magnificent and has seldom bean equalled, and I believe never excelled in the annals ol goldmining in this colony. The run of gold has been proved ior nearly 200 feet along the line of the lode, and does nob show tho least sign of tapering oil. Tho main shaft is now down 50 feet below the 100 feeb level, and ab the same rate of progress within a weak or ten days it should be down the distance at which ib is intended to open but from. During the pasb three weeks about 40 tons'of general crushing material and a ton of specimens have been treated ab the Kapanga battery for the magnifi cent return .of 5_.5000z3 of melted jgold."
