WAIKATO NOTES.
». Cambridge, this day,
We shall have a real bib of fun here on Wednesday afternoon, when a number of ladies play the Cambridge Eleven ab cricket on the Governmenb paddock. They have been practising for some time, and it is expected they will beab tho male eleven easily, as the latter have to play with broomsticks. Afternoon tea will be provided, and the Cambridge Band have volunteered to enliven the proceedings with a little music. Our postmaster, with his family, leaves by train this morning en.rdute for Kaiapoi, to which office he has been appointed. His successor, Mr Empaon, from Kawakawa. arrived on Saturday. The young men of Cambridge West met on Thursday last, and formed an Amateur Athletic Club. They intend holding sports ab an early date, which will doubtless bo well patronised, as there are a number of amateur athletes in Waikato.
Our school youngsters will pay Auckland a visit on Friday, Mr; Granb having arranged for a special trip to run on thab day. -' • ■■
