MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.
Kapai-Vermont.—The reet in the main level soubh is six feeb wide, small parts of which are sent to the mill. In the leading stope south, the reef 19 three feeb wide, all of which is crushed. In the intermediate stope the reef is 4 feeb wide, prospects prebty well, and is all sent to the'mill. The reef is 4 feet wide in bhe leading stope north. No. 3 stope north is carried a distance of 29 feeb ; the reef i« 4 faot and prospects well. Good ore has been obtained the whole distance from the top intermediate level north, the reef being 4 feeb wide. The second stopa over the top inter- ' mediate is in a total of 29 feeb;... roef 3 feeb thick of good ore. On tbe whole the general prospects of the property muab be considered very good, and from caesent
appearances are likely to continue for a considerable time.
-Golden Treasure (Karangahake).—A start has been made to sink where there is gold visible. The reef in. the lower drive has greatly improved of late. There is a fine body of ore about eighb feeb thick in the face of bhe drive.Venus.—There should be aboub 60,0r 70 tons of quartz pn hand. Bbokbs Hnu —The lode ab presenb is from bhree bo four feeb wide, and a solid! body of ore with numerous veins sbriking in from the foobwall. The counbry is all bhab could be desired, and bhe ore is of a very kindly nature. Try Fluke.—The drive north from the winze below No. 3 level has been'driven a furbher distance of eighb feeb. The lode has been very much broken and inter-1 mixed with ribs of sandstone. To all appearance bhe reef will be more compact in a few more feeb of driving, as bhe sandstone is cutting out. South from the winze the drive has been extended seven feeb. The lode is seven feet thick in good country. The footwall portion of bhe reef continues to give good prospects ; the other parb of the lodo is low grade ore. The cross-lode between No. 1 and 2 reefs ab No, 3 level has been driven on a farther distance of six feeb, and is npvv in aboub 30 feeb. The lode is from nine to il2 inches thick, and still carries a little gold. The winze below intermediate is i down 30 feet; a further depth of 20 feeb will hole through to No. 3 level. When this is completed it-will open up anobher block for stoping on the No. 2 reof. In the Mariposa section Bboping is proceeding on bhe main reef ab Wo. 1 and No, 2 levels. Fully half the oro crushed is from this parb of bhe mine. We are nlso extending the drivo north on the main roof 'ab No. 2 level. Tho lode is about 18 inches thick, and occasionally gives fair prospects by mortar tests. We have cub. another small leader in tho easb crosscub ab No. 2 level; t|ie atone has a kindly appearance. There are on hand from the plates up to date 1450z of amalgam. Waihi. —The new batbery is gebbing well advanced under the charge of Mr George Beeeon. Gladstone.—Work is being pushed forward in this mine under tbe care of Mr Fred Hollis. HxaKAKi Tribute.—Mr George Edmund'B tribute on the Hauraki block expires in July nexb, and he expects to take oub a large quanbity of gold before his time ia up. Mr Edmunds eaya bhat the reefs he te working on show no signs of giving out, and the Hauraki Company are in possession of a splendid property. Out of seven loads Mr Edmunds had bwo crushings ab Coromandel of specimens, 40ib of which yielded 530z, and 601b gave 112ozi. The balance of general dirb was put through ab the Thames for 82oz 6dwb. About three months' work thus yielded the handsome return of aboub £750.
Palace (Wairongomai).—Six trucks of stone returned 14oz of retorted gold.
Te Aroha.—Peggiug oub is being pushed on vigorously in this district. The latest piece of ground secured is almost within a stone's throw of the township. Tbe reef is said to be over twelve feet in width.
Alpha (Waitekauri).—Testa made with two tons of oro from thia mine ab bhe Thames School of Mines, showed tho average valuo to bo £9 2s 3d por ton. Moanataiari. —A cusSiing of 214 tons of geuoral dirt, 501b of pickod stone and 420 tons of surface dirb, yielded 16Soz 3dwt of retorted gold. ,
Kapanga.—Amongst the passengers from London by the Ruahine was Mr Hodge, who has returned to resume bho management of bhe Kapanga Goldmining Company's mine at Coromandol.
