The Bench stated thab a special day would be fixed for the hearing of an objection by Arthur Wrighb, who was assessed in Bast Ward bub claimed to be in the Parnell district. A. G. The Aasessmenb Courb for the Ciby of Auckland, in order to hear objections againsb valuations of properby made by bho ciby valuer for rating purposes, sab again ab the S.M. Courthouse to-day, Mr H. W. Northcrofb, S.M., being on the Bench. The Norbh Ward objectors, 74 in number, were dealb wibh as follows :—

Auckland Sailors' Home Mission Hall, assessed ab £50. Mr Buddie, for the objecbors, called Col. T. M. Haultain, hon. secrebary bo bhe Sailors' Home, in supporb of bho objection, lb was contended that the Mission Hall was U3ed solely for religious purposes and was therefore exempt from rating. Mr T. Cotter, City-Solicitor, who appeared in supporb of valuations, contended that this did nob apply to private chapels, but Colonel Haultain said that the building was nob a private chapol. Anyone could. attend the services there who liked to do po. Mr Northcrofb said he would take time to consider the objection.'
