TRAGEDY IN WEST AUSTRALIA.
MURDER AND SUICIDE AT
NANNINE.
Particulars are to hand from Perth of a tragedy on the Nainnine goldfield. They show that one John Sutherland was deliberately, murderedl by hie former mate, Henry Augusta MiSer, who afterwards commibted suicide. Tho evidence ab the inquest proved conclusively that Miller wenb to Subherland's tonb with a leaded revolver, and fired two shots,with fatal affecb. He then returned to hia own tent and, putting the revolver in hia mouth, fired down his throat, death b&i'ng instantaneous. Miller lefb on his ft&ble a piece of paper, on which these words were written : "I have shot John Sutherland, therefore blame no one else.—H. A. Miller.''
Tbe victims of tbe tragedy bad quarrelled over a disputed lease. Miller is reported to have been a man of independent means in Victoria. The verdicb of the jury was bo the effect that Sutherland meb his death ab the hands of Miller, who had commibted suicide. -
