The ordinary: meeting of the Newton Borough Council was held lasb nighb; Present :Mr R. Warnock (the Mayor), and Crs. Wabaon, SSnackolford, Lee, Buckley, Wilson, Webley,! Davenport.
Water Consumption.— The Town Clerk reported thab bhe consumption of water for the'week ending. March 25, was 108,000 gallons and for the week ending April 3, 97,000 gallons.
Fence.—Mr C, Hieholls wrote askiDg permission bo fence a piece of land as a paddock between Susapx-street and Tenny-80n-streeb.~Referred to the Sbreofcs Committee with power to act.
Accounts.—Accounts amounting to £36 5s 6d were passed for payment. Assessment Court.—On the motion of tho Mayor, Mr J. S. Dukeu'as appointed to represent bhe Council at tho sitting of the Assessment Courb aba fee of iSI Is.
Water.—lb was agreed, on \ Lhe motion of Cr. Shackelford, bhat after ihe presenb half-year bhe Council cease to supply Arch Hill residents with water excepb ,by meter.
