Illegal Slaughtering.—Harry Moody, butcher, of Syraouds-streec, Au.ckland, appeared at the" Onehunga Court this morning, before Mr Bueh, S.M., charged with slaughtering 24 head of cattle, contrary to the AbattoirandSlaughterhouses' Act, 1894. Mr Moody stated in defence that he ,ftad applied for a license to kill ab Epsom, and, believing the application would be granted, he commenced to slaughter. Heaaid he trusted theS.M. would takeinto consideration ttiat he had committed an error of judgment, and had not wil/ully Bet the law at defiance.—His Wor^ip remarked that £10 per head fine coa/d be inflicted, but in this case the defendant would be fined 48s, and costs l3s.
