ASSESSMENT COURT.
GRAFTON WARD.
This morning a sitting of the Assessment Court for the City of Auckland, Mr H. W. Northcrofb, S.M., being the judge, was held inthe S.M. Court-house, lor the purpose of hearing objections to the valuation list for the Auckland district. TheGraftpn Ward was taken to-day, the objections by owners of property in that district being heard.; The North Ward and Karangahape will- be deab with to-morrow, the South Ward on Wednesday, and the Ponaonby Ward on Mo'nddv next. Mr Gulliver, City Valuer, and Mr P. A. Philips, Town Clerk, appeared in support of the valuations. ' . The following- objections were dealt with;— James Beaty. Seafield View Road, assessed ab £22—Reduced to £16, A. B.: Parsonsjs Synionds-at., aesessinent £60; samejKyber Paea Riad, £12./I!he Town Clerk raised a technical objection on the ground that the objection was not signed by the objector .himself, but Mr Ashton appeared for Mr Parsons, and explained that the latter could nob sign the objection! as he was away. On this Mr Philips waived his objection, saying he ( only wished to draw publicity to the fact that • the statute required owners of prdperty to sign, the objections, themselves. —Both valuations, were sustained. Maud A. Preece, Graf ton Road, assessed £70 ; no appearance—Valuation sustained. A. Sinclair, Graf ton Road—Valuation to be£S.
