ALL ,THE ; COINS RECOVERED.
It is gratifyiog to be able to state that the whole oftiiecoins^ and taken fromT-the -Museum; have- been-;recovered^-even*to the-dozßn specimens of greenbacksJ Some 18 coins which had beenspassed to tradesmen were recovered by Chief Detective Grace and Detective Chrystal. On Saturday the detective searched the CBinefcery for the remainder of the collection, but without 'discovering them. Yesterday, however, the Chief Gaoler, Mr George ; Reston, panied Detective Grace tq /the' cemetery again, and found 706 coins buried under a bush where; a*grave had caved in dowh the gully. The hiding-place' was admirably chosen, and but for information given; could scarcely have been discovered], 'AAnother 323 ■ coins"were found in a house in Newmarketi where it is Btated that Leavett, the man arrested on the charge; passed one night. Vln ■■ all J.,029 coins were recovered, exclusive-:pf the 18 previously traced by the. detectives. Ib is a fortunate thing-that such a Valuable assortment of coins escaped'the melting pot, because they were only worth -their metal; value, as any attempt to paeß the majority of the coinß must have resulted in detection. ■..-.., ■ ; ■■ . ■
