A first dividend of 10s in the £ has been declared by the Official Assignee in the estate of John Phillips, junior, of Paeroa.

The Special Committee of the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board which; was Beb up to inquire into certain charges preferred by nurses at the District HOB-; pital has now finished ita inquiry, after sitting for a considerable time taking evidence. The statements of nurses,. the medical officers ao the Hospital and others have been taken at great length, and the whole report comprises about 150 pages of type-written foolscap. This is now available for perusal by members of the Board, and ib will be discussed by the Board at ita nexb meeting. Ib is understood that' a number of recommendations arising oat of the reporb will be made at ths nexb meet*1: ing of the Board.
