HOSPITAL ANIL CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the' Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held thiß afternoon ab bhe Board's office, High-6bree_, there being present Messrs P. Dignan (Chairman), W. Bruce, J. Gordon, J. Stitchbury, J. Swales, J. Bollard and C. Hesketh.

Additions to Hospital. ■-? With reference to the additions tp the Hospibal, a telegram was received from Wellington from the Secretary to the Inspector - General of Hospitals as*follows: "Plans have been approved by Inspector, and are now in hands of Public Works Department. They will be senb to you by to-morrow's (15tb) mail." The Secretary eaid thab the plans bad hob yeb arrived. The levy recommended was 4-25fchs of a penny, which with subsidy would produce £13,225 6s 10d.— Mr Bollard sjiid he, like the Chairman, was very much opposed to increasing the' levy oh'publipbodies,' bub he saw no help for it. The-i demands for charitable aid had been much greater, and the Financial Committee .feored thab tho demands for relief during the coming winter would be inoreasod.
