At the Council meeting, .an application that the beams for the District Match be reduced from 20 to 10 was'refused, but ib is probable the districb will'be jeconsbrucbed before the nexb meeting, with the view of some, of the districts withoub a.complete team thia year being represented. Taranaki will probably be tacked on to Auckland, and Nelson and" Marlborough to North Canterbury. The Council declined to reduce the number of men firing in the Volley Match, but consented to men coming oub from town to complete the team for Wellington. A light southerly wind was blowing, with misty rain, yesterday. The weather on Saturday night was drizzling rain, with lighb southerly wind, bub yesberday morning broke _qe and bright. There was a white! frosb last nighb, and this morning there was ice on the water in buckets outside of the tents. Shooting began at 8.30 a.m. in a dead calm, with a bright sun. So far only a dozen teams have enbered for bhe companies team match. This will necessitate a reduction in prize money. .... X ■ The Marlborough tyatch was shob under the mosb favourable circumstances. No possibles were made, bhough Kirk scored eighb bulls, thon an inner, and wound up with a bull, making 49 oub of 50, which secured the firsb prize and Kynoch's cup, which he holds for one year.
