Water Supply.—The Auckland Town Clork wrote that the Parnell Conncil 8 lobter of the 27th ulb. in reference to madeauate pressure of water a* the Parnell Tennis Club Lawn had been laid before the fitv Council, and received, and thab the Engineer had reported thab the supply denendeil on to fill the tankß was evidently kvbor Pass, fr°m 6to 8 a.m., but this KUDply waa turnod down Grafton Road through a small pipe, and the hob weather making tbe consumption prebty largo, the hieher levels could nob in consequence get a tfood Bupply.-The letter was received. BtJKGKSS Kot.i.—lb waa agreed to mserb the names of Mr D. J. Moir, Stanwellstteet, and Mr -Morris Copeland, grocer, Afanukau Road, on tha burges3 roll. Impounding Fees— Mr Thoe. Jenkins complained that his aon, whoaa horse had beeu impounded, had been charged a ■* lnVher releasing fee than waa allowed by "The Impounding Acb, 1884." The animal Jiad been impounded tor ten minutes, and tbo charge made was 3s 6d. He submitted that the charge should have been only la. —The matter was referred to the Legal and Finance Committee for their reporb. Clifton Road.—A letter from Mr Joseph Smitb drawing attention to tho bad state of this road, waa referred to the Streets Committee. Water Consdmkrs' Rates.—A letter was received from Mr R. J. Williams, Raglan, acknowledging receipt of Town Clerk's uotico of demand tor this rate in respect of liia (the former's) house in Stanwell-streeb. He stated that the house had been vacant for several weeks past, and that so long as tho house was vacantand no water was being used, no rate would be paid.—Mr Withy moved thab Mr Williams' attention be drawn to the law on tho .subject, and that payment of rates be insisted upon.—This was agreed to. Typhoid Fever. —Dr. Wright reported a case ot typhoid in Craycroft-streot. Adckland Haheotjr Boead. — The Mayor was appointed' to represenb the Ccuiucil on the Auckland Harbour Board. Ratks.—An oiler of £1 per month from lira Harrieb Longdin for the payraenb of her rates (in arrear) was accepted on the condition thab the payments were made regularly. Ax Alleged Nuisance.—Mr Thomas Cottlo again wrote, asking the Council to take steps to have a nuisance abated in the ■vicinity of his residence in Salisbury-street. —The Mayor said the question waa probably whether the Council had any right to interfere in the matter. If the neighbour were observing the Council's bye-laws, ib wa3 questionable whether they had any such right.—The Inspector of Nuisances, Mr Gardner, said he had visited the place, and had found thab the nuisance complained of existed, and thab no steps were being now made to abate it.—The Council instructed the Inspector to see that the nuisance be abated at once.

Bank Balances.—The Town Clerk reported thab the bank balances of the Conncil'a Recounts at date were as follows :— General rate credit, £76 17s 8d ; water supply credib, £173 12a 8d ; drainage loan credit, £455 2s: waterworks loan credit, £512. ';••■■. ■ ■-■ :.-

Charges tob-Water by Meter.—The Legal ahd Finariee^csrnmittee, in considering Mr Martin and others' application for rebate, drew up and submitted to the Council the following sliding scale for large eo'risomers of water, which waa agreed to : —Up to 25,000 gallons, at schedule rate of Is fid per 1,000 gallons; up to 50,000 gallons, Is Od ; and above 50,000 gallons, Ja 3d.

Removal ov Refuse.—The Mayor intimated that some ratepayers had been complaining of the late hour in which refuse was being removed from the streets during the morniDg, and that many were of opinion ib would be an advantage if the men started their work earlier. The practice, he said, of removing refuse at late Lour* was a very offensive one.—The contractor, wbo was presenb, said ib was the fault c»f the householders ; when bhe men went arpnnd early they were kepb waiting for the **)fuse. — The Mayor ultimately gave notice of a motion adopting regulations as to a specific time in which refuse jmusb be pub out on the footspatb and a time in which ib must) be removed by the contractor.

- Streets Committee Report.—This Committee recommended that a drinking fountain be placed near cess pit opposite Mrs Yaugban'a property; that the street sweepings be emptied in the hollow in Cheshire-street, provided thab Mr Gilbert B~.d the other owners of land in the sbreob do nob object, and that they undertake not lo hold the Council liable for any damage caused by such sweepings being washed over the land adjacent to the street; that :until property-owners in Gibraltar Crescent yemove their fences from bhe lino of tho atreeb the Council do nob undertake the formation of the footpath.—The reporb, •with a few other recommendations, was adopted. . Strand Lank.—lb was agreod to write bo tlie Board of Governors of the Auckland (grammar School asking them to contribute half the coat (£*2s) ot the wall to be erectod hi Strand Lane.
