OUR CRICKETERS.

The,play at the Domain on Saturday afternoon, from a spectator's' poino of view, was very unsatisfactory. The batting in both of the senior matches was of an inferior quality, and the bowling and fielding was the poorest display that has been witnessed on the Domain this season. The Auckland eleven, playing against Gordon, seemed to be at- a considerable; disadvantage owing to the absence of their veteran batsman and bowler, E. Neill, who was unable to play on account of the effects of an accident; The absence of both his batting and his bowling was severely felo. In the United v. Parnell match. United somewhat surprised their opponents by the unusual manner in which they succeeded in keeping up,their stumps, their last wicket not falling till the total had reached 160 runs. Stemßon played a sterling innings for 51, while R. McPherson's batting produced 31, and S. McPherson'e 26. f arneil, though haying to face the largest score made against them this season, were by no means discouraged on taking the wickets, and if their remaining wickets are half as successful as the first, it is not unlikely that the United soore will be reached. At any rate the match will mo3t likely, be decided on the first innings. The following are the scores :— Auckland v. Gordon, Auckland.—-First Innings'. ArneiLsb Gilfillan, b Gould ... : ...
