How to Get Up a Card Party.

Sets of fancy cards, tied with ribbon, are useful for the same purpose, if the party is held on or near St. Valentine's'" Day, Christmas, or New Year's. Novel tallies are made of muffin rings, with the small brass bells (sold by the dozen or gross) tied on with baby ribbon, one for each" game. Tho ribbon is of a different colour for each table and in this way a unique record of the. game is kept. The prizea should, so far as possible, be in keeping with the character of the entertainment. Silver score markers and pencils are nice to haVre, and the etching called 'For He's a Jolly Good Fellow ' makes a most desirable first prize. For the lesser prizes trays and match safes in china decorated to represent cards, are useful and reasonable in price.
The refreshments offer a wide field for suggeßfcivo decoration. Tiny cakes may be cub with heart, club, spade, and diamond shaped cutters, which any tinsmith can make you. Oblong slices of cake may be iced to represent dominoes. Bonbons pub up in boxes made of playing cards tied together with baby ribbon can be used. Sandwiches cut, jiibh _ cutters, Jgr,,^ salad diamond-shaped hits of boiled beots can be oftered.
So great is the race for novelties nowadays fchab the one who really succeeds in presenting something new is hailed a§ a■ discoverer, indeed.
