Wellington, this day. E. J. Mentor was fined one shilling and costs ab the S.M. Court this morning tor failing to allow two of his factory hands a half • holiday on Saturday last. For tho defence, ib was contended that the girls in question had been told to go, and the owner of the factory was nob responsible if they chose to remain, but Mr Martin, S.M., ruled it was the duty of the employer to see that nil his employees, eepeeially the women, were off the premises abbhe time stipulated .-in bha Ack.
