barque in the English Channel, and ©wiD£ to the damage to her bows, which was considerable, she had to pub back to Gravesend. .Repairs were effected, and on tho morning of October 26th a fresh start was made for New Zealand. Of the voyage the chiof officer, Mr Cogan, raporfcß :In the evening' of the same date as she left London anchor was dropped off the Downs. At daylight, the next day the voyage was resumed, and till. November 2nd strong westerly and south-westerly gales were met with. On November Hth the stea'mer'signalled off Lbb Palmas, the north-east trades, which were moderately ebrong, lasting till lab. 15 north. From there to the Equator, which was croased on November 12th, variable southerly and southeasterly winda were experienced. The south-easterly trades were light, and on the morning of November 23rd the Otarama signalled off the Cape of Good Hope. Tha westerlies were, aa usual, picked up shortly after rounding the Cape, and ' the run across to Tasmania, which was passed on the 14th insb., was uneventful. The weather continued tine till arrival ats above, laßtnight. Captain Caneso left on the Otarama the first start she made for New Zealand, bub on her return to London Captain MiHward, late chief officer of the Company's Bteamers Rimutaka and Tongari.ro,- assumed command. With him, are the following officers : —Chief, Mr J. F. Cogan (late Waikato); second, Mr N. E. Bower j third,.Mr N. R. Cornwall (late Kaikoura); fourth, Mr A^ G. Jeffrey; chief engineer, Mr W. Brown : second, Mr J. Bald; third, Mr J. B. Davie ; fourth, Mr W. C. Hampton ; chief refrigerating engineer, Mr A. McMillan; second, Mr J. Powell. ■ j Tha steamer comes into port in excellent ! order after her long run of 13,400 miles, during which the enginea.were only stopped once. Her cargo for this port consists of about 2,000 tons merchandise, and she has about 1,000 tons for Wellington. The Otarama was berthed ab the Queen-stroet Wharf early thiß morning, the discharge of her cargo being commenced ab 8 o'clock. Tho steamer's movements have not been definitely settled yet, but sha will probably leave for Wellington towards tho end of next week.
