MRS WILLIAMS' SCHOOL.
The breaking-up ceremony today in con nection with "Mrs Williams' school, "The Willows," Wynyard-streeb, was the occasion fora very pleasant gathering, the prizes gained being distributed to the pupils in the presence of a considerable number of parents and Meeds. The visitors fiisb inspected the exhibition of pupils' work, including paintings, pencil and crayon drawings, mapping, needlework, etc., all of which was exceedingly well done. In these branches of work the exhibits showed great) care and painstaking labour on the part of the yonng lady scholars, under the able supervision of Mrs Williams and her .assistant teachers. Mrs Williams' school has held a deservedly high reputation as a private scholastic institution, and the work done dnring tb,e year was in no way behind thab of previouß years. The prizes, consisting of valuable books, etc., was presented at noon in the schoolroom, by the Rev, L. Fitzgerald. After the prizes in each form bad been given out the following special prizes were pre--Bented :— French, senior division, Lilly Swift (presented by Mrs Brigham) ; junior division, Florence McHardy (presented by Mrs Langmuir). Conduct, Mary Langmuir (presented by Mrs Hellaby). Drawing and painting prizes,, senior division, Lilian Man ing ; junior division, Jessie Raid (presented by Miss Tye and Mrs John Reid). Plain needlework, senior division, Lilian Maning (presented by Mrs J. L. Wilson). Plain and fancy needlework, • junior division R. flellaby. Attendance, Jessie Reid. Printing, Mary Langmuir. Mapping, Augustine Mildred Porter (presented by Miss Reid). Mosb popular girl, Mabel Norman (presented by "Mr Toweey). Moab popular boy, Sinclair Reid (presented by Miss Tilly). Mr Fitzgerald, after making the presentations, apoko very highly in praise of the efficiency of Mrs Williams' school. Mrs Williams and her teachers bad shovrn great) care, and had been very, painstaking, and the former lady tried to give her pupils a thorough education —mentally, morally and spiritually, as well as in manners and accomplishments. He praised the manner in which Mrs Williams looked after the breeding and good manners of her scholars, 1 and said that in all things she exercised a most careful supervision. ■ ~ 5 ' *
On the suggestion of Mr J. M. Geddes, A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mrs Williams and her teachers, and the R«v. Mr Fitzgerald, and after light refreshments had been partaken of the gathering of parents and friends dispersed. •
