OUR GOLDFIELDS.
Si&vekton.— Mr E. M. Corbett, one of the directors, writes to bhe Auckland manager of the Company that he was over the mine on the Htb and found the men were finishing cleaning up. The drive from the winze towards bhe Martha ia 49ft in length, and within lift of being under the firsb winze, which is now full of water. This shows there must be a clay band between bho end of bhe drive and the bottom of the winze. The reef is cut through ab the end of the drive, and is aboub 12 feeb thick, with very good-looking stone. Nobfolk.—The mine manager reports that the drive on the California reef ab the Missouri level has been extended a further distance of 14 feeb. Though the country being passed through is rather tight for headway ib is of a good description for gold. Oblando.—The mine manager reports that the leading stope is being taken along. The leader in aboub 6 inches in thickness. The quartz carries mineral and is' of a promising appearance, although no gold bas lately been seen.
